What is EIRP??
Effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) is the total power that would have to be radiated by a hypothetical isotropic antenna to give the same signal strength as the actual source in the direction of the antenna's strongest beam.
EIRP values of different satellites are usually given on the satellite websites (lyngsat.com/flysat.com)
EIRP value of a satellite is location specific and according to footprint.
Usually satellite websites provide EIRP value according to the search location. for example, if my ISP is showing my location as Karachi, EIRP value is according to Karachi. How EIRP value help us in satellite searching.
for example..
EIRP value of Asiasat7 for whole Pakistan is 40dbW for C-Band. as per EIRP/Dish size chart; EIRP:40.0 dBW = 150 cm (4.9feet)
so recommended dish size for Asiasat7 in Pakistan is 4.9feet. it will give u an idea that Asiasat7(C-Band) cannot be tuned on a dish less then 4 feet
EIRP value of KU-Band Asiasat7 is 51. so as per chart 51dbW=55 to 60cm (1.9feet approx)
Asiasat East Asian Beam covers only some areas of pakistan so we can estimate dish size/view ability accordingly Hope this will help you all in searching satellites
