Pemra to begin crackdown against Indian channels from 15 oct

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has announced to launch a crackdown against illegal Indian channels in all major cities of the country, ARY News reported on Saturday.

According to details obtained from official sources of Pemra, the crackdown would be launched from October 15.

The decision was taken today following a meeting between Chairman Pemra Absar Alam and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif during which the Chairman Pemra took the provincial minister into confidence over the forthcoming crackdown drive.

Mr Alam told the Punjab Chief Minister that the crackdown was actually against illegal Indian Direct-To-Home (DTH), dishes and content existing in the black market of several Pakistani cities.

Sources in this matter informed that the country’s chief media regulatory authority was trying to put into effect a DTH licensing scheme in Pakistan.

Pemra officials said that the body’s chairman has also sought assistance from the centre and other provincial governments including the Balochistan government in a bid to make the planned crackdown against illegal Indian DTH, dishes and content a major triumph.

LAHORE: Kicking off a crackdown, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has decided to ban all illegal Indian channels nationwide, Samaa reported Saturday.

According to our correspondent, the decision was taken at a meeting between Pemra chairman Absar Alam and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Reports said the Pemar chief warned that strict action would be taken as per law after Oct 15 if TV channels and distribution networks failed to follow directions of the regulatory body and continued to use illegal DTH (direct-to-home) decoders.

چئیرمین پیمرا نے بتایا کہ 15اکتوبر سے انڈین چینلز کے خلاف کریک ڈاؤن کا فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے ،جس پر وزیر اعلیٰ شہباز شریف کا کہنا تھا کہ غیر قانونی ڈی ٹی ایچ ذریعے کریک ڈاؤن کا فیصلہ خوش آئند ہے اور اس اقدام میں حکومت پنجاب پیمرا کے ساتھ ہر ممکن تعاون کرے گی۔

اس کے علاوہ وزیر اعلیٰ نے تمام بڑے شہروں میں پیمرا کے دفاتر کے قیام کیلئے تعاون کی بھی یقین دہانی کرائی۔

Pemra ny sirf indian illegal dth or servers ke khilaaf crack down karna hai agar kisi server mein indian packages na hon to kya ye allowed hai ?
