A federal judge blocked Kari Lake, a Trump appointee, from firing Voice of America (VOA) director Michael Abramowitz. Lake, overseeing VOA, had placed the entire workforce on leave and defunded other US-backed broadcasters after Trump's executive order to weaken the agency. Abramowitz's firing was deemed unlawful as it bypassed the VOA advisory board, which had been dismissed by the Trump administration.
