Guidetti goal enough for Celtic

Post by sake »

A review of Saturday's action in the Scottish Premiership.

John Guidetti's ninth goal in seven games proved enough to seal Celtic's fifth consecutive win - but Inverness were left raging that the only goal of the game stood.

The Swede scored on a 49th-minute counter-attack but Caley Thistle claimed Scott Brown had unfairly won the ball to spark the move.

Guidetti soon had a penalty claim rejected before Celtic survived a late onslaught to hang on for a 1-0 win.

Dundee United returned to the top of the Scottish Premiership with a convincing 3-0 win over lacklustre St Mirren at Tannadice.

Jackie McNamara's side saw off Tommy Craig's team thanks to goals from Paul Paton, Nadir Ciftci and Charlie Telfer.

It ensured the Tayside club leapfrogged Hamilton to round off a successful week, having earlier clinched their place in the semi-final of the League Cup.

Tony Andreu was the hero for Hamilton with an equaliser deep into stoppage time in the 3-3 draw against Partick Thistle.

Two goals in the space of two minutes from Darian MacKinnon and Danny Redmond had put the home side in front, but Thistle managed to restore parity thanks to strikes from Jordan McMillan and James Craigen.

Christie Elliott then thought he had claimed the winner for the visitors, until Andreu salvaged a point for the hosts with the last kick of the game.

Dundee moved into the top six as they eventually saw off Kilmarnock 3-1 at Rugby Park.

Greg Stewart gave them the lead just prior to the break and David Clarkson doubled the advantage soon after the restart.

Alexei Eremenko gave Kilmarnock hope with a great turn and finish but despite their late rally, Dundee sealed the win late on with Stewart's second of the game.
