Actually hotbird 13b satellite's life is running out. (15 years completed)
They just moved the tps of 13b to 13c and 13e.
Hotbird 13c and 13e have better coverage compared to 13b.
some gurus/experts  were claiming that 13f and 13g have been launched and tps are shifted to these two new satellites  .
Hotbird 13f and 13g will be launched on 30th April 2022

Here is a Italian website report regarding hotbird 13b

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, a rather rare event occurred: a blackout of most of the transponders of the Hot Bird 13B satellite, which impacted Sky, RTL 102.5, many French broadcasters, the Greek ****, the Polish version of Canal+ and many African programs. The Italian channels were quickly reactivated without impact for users (probably from transponder spare on the other co-located satellites), while for the French ones the same thing was impossible.

The 13-degree orbital position, named Hot Bird in 1995 by eutelsat's then general manager Giuliano Beretta, is one of the most strategic in the fleet, hosting over 1000 television channels for a potential audience of over 135 million homes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The channels are broadcast by three co-located satellites, Hot Bird 13B, C and E launched in 2006, 2008 and 2006 respectively.

The breakdown took place at an absolutely non-peak time: the early hours of Sunday morning. Most of the channels were immediately unavailable, with symptoms ranging between no signal and receiver blockages. Around 10 am many frequencies were on again, with the exception of 11623, 11681, 11804, 12597, 11075, 11054, 10719.

Since the uplinks are in different locations, even in the absence of official communications it could be ruled out that the problem was caused by the ground base stations.

Around 1 pm many of the transponders were again admissible, but with low signal or unstable quality, sometimes too low to be usable.

In any case, the main Italian station broadcasters have quickly become available again on the same previous frequencies. It is assumed using the backup transponders of the other satellites (probably mainly the most performing 13C.13E).

Worse went to the French and African packages, which were moved to the new 12,149 frequency, thus forcing users (able to do so) to manually enter the new parameters in the receiver. Or wait for the Tivusat equivalent to update the channel tables.

However, it is important to note how the Hot Bird 13Bsatellite, launched on August4, 2006 had an expected life of 15 years: it would therefore have failed just after this deadline, exactly as when we buy an electronic gadget guaranteed one year and this fails on the 367th day. TheHotbird 13E was launched in 2006, leaving the 13C with the honor of being the only one still in active life.

Eutelsat had planned for this year the launch of the Hot Bird 13F and 13G satellites, in order to guarantee the extension of life of this station, but for various reasons the departure is now scheduled for mid-2022. It will therefore be appropriate to hope that 13C and 13E will remain in good health for at least one more year. (M.H.B. for NL)
