1pt win Art Obsession to win 3.35 Carlisle at 5/1 (best odds guaranteed)

It’s the Carlisle Bell this afternoon and David Barron’s ART OBSESSION could be the one to be on as his price looks fair enough considering his obvious claims. It's rare that the handicapper shows any leniency with improving types like this son of Excellent Art, but dropping him 1lb following a very good second at Ayr last time is an example of just that. That was his seasonal reappearance after eight months off the track and he displayed signs of freshness early on, racing a bit keenly, but he stayed on well for second and looks sure to come on for the run. On that evidence he's ready for the step back up to a mile, his pedigree suggests it's exactly what he wants, he's absolutely fine on this sort of ground and he should make a bold bid from a prominent position under Graham Gibbons. David O'Meara's He's No Saint looks a danger judging by his eye-catching run at York last time, but I'm not sure a stiff mile is what he needs to show his best and he'll need luck in-running to come from off the pace from his inside draw. 1pt Harry Kane to score in England Under-21s v Italy Under-21s at 7/4

We will know by the end of the night if England's participation at the European Under-21 Championship is over or whether they have a semi-final to prepare for. Italy provide the final group test for Gareth Southgate's side and a draw will be enough to see England progress. The Italians need victory to stand a chance of making it through and that will make this game an interesting watch and potentially a nervy one too. Harry Kane is without a goal in the competition yet but now looks his time to shine. The Tottenham striker should get chance with Italy pushing forward and can be backed at a decent price to net. 1pt Honest John (T3) to win 8.04 Swindon at SP

There are three opens on the menu at Swindon this evening and Honest John (T3) is fancied to relish a return to the Wiltshire venue at 8.04. An impressive winner over 480m when last seen here in late April, he has run with credit in hot company in the Derby and at Monmore since and takes a drop in class tonight. Richard Yeates' charge has looked to be crying out for further and the step up to 509m here can see him back in the winner's enclosure. (Chris Oliver)

1pt e.w Montefeltro in 3.45 Newcastle at 14/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Brian Ellison’s Montefeltro looks a fair each-way bet in today’s John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle. The seven-year-old shouldn’t be overlooked as he had a perfectly satisfactory preparation for this race at Haydock last time, in a contest where seven of the runners re-oppose today. The other six all beat Montefeltro at Haydock, which must be the main reason for his big price, but he has at least a small pull at the weights with all of those rivals and there’s every reason to believe he’ll come on again for that run. Ellison has certainly been pleased with him since, saying earlier in the week that he’s ‘back to the kind of form he showed when winning the Irish Cesarewitch’ and if that is the case he’s got a fine each-way chance this afternoon. He’s going to save ground on the inside from stall six with Robert Tart likely to unleash him for a late charge, and while those sort of tactics encourage traffic problems in a race of this nature, it’s a risk I’m willing to take. (By Ben Linfoot)

1pt Brazil and Paraguay to draw at 13/5

The two countries are meeting at the quarter-final stage for the second successive time, and it was Paraguay who won last time out thanks to a penalty shoot-out success in La Plata in 2011. That result was no fluke either, as Paraguay were moments away from beating Brazil in the group stage of the same Copa America only for Fred to net an 89th-minute equaliser for the five-time world champions. In this tournament, Brazil haven't entirely convinced in the so far, having won two group games by just one goal and losing the other to Colombia, while Paraguay drew with Argentina and Uruguay as well as sneaking a 1-0 victory over Jamaica. Another penalty shoot-out could be on the cards in a tight affair so backing a draw in the 90 minute betting seems a pretty safe bet to me. (By Chris Hammer)

Rugby League
2pts Warrington (-18) to beat Leigh at evens

Leigh have suffered just one loss all year and have beaten two Super League teams. But you have got to keep in mind in this game the opposition will be of a higher quality. Salford had a lot of injuries when Leigh played them, while Wakefield have been continually losing in Super League. Warrington’s forwards are a lot more mobile and their back row of Harrison, Curry and Westwood has better quality and skill than Leigh’s back row. In front of a full house and with a semi-final beckoning, Warrington have the better quality and they will prevail. The start is quite big for Leigh, and that could be a worry. I’d recommend backing Warrington to win and cover.

Greyhounds
2pts win Farloe Blitz (T2) at Wimbledon 9.08

The stage is set for the richest greyhound race in history. All eyes are on Wimbledon tonight for the William Hill Greyhound Derby final (9.08) and Farloe Blitz (T2) is a red-hot 11/10 favourite to scope the £250,000 cheque. With his ferocious early speed, Owen McKenna's charge has been brilliant in remaining unbeaten and just when you thought he might be vulnerable with a third run in the space of eight days last Saturday, he bombed out and put his rivals to the sword in style. He is six from seven in trap two and he is clad in blue again this evening, with Rio Quattro on his inside again and he looks sure to lead up. He runs a beautiful bend and can once again skip two or three lengths clear early in the back straight, a position from which he shouldn't be caught and Ireland's seven-year wait for an English Derby winner should be over. Horse Racing
1pt win Go Go Green 8.15 Musselburgh at 5/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Go Go Green needs things to go his own way, and there's every chance they might do so at Musselburgh this evening. He ideally needs a fast, consistent pace, decent ground, and a few narrow gaps to squeeze through to keep him interested. He also needs a winnable race - which he hasn't had on a couple of occasions this season, but he has nevertheless repeatedly run creditably in defeat, including when beaten just a couple of lengths into fifth in the £30,000 consolation race for the Scottish Sprint Cup over this course and distance on Derby Day. In a good run of form at present, Go Go Green has run at least up to his rating in four of his last five starts and now finds himself down in Class 5 company again, his handicap mark having fallen to a rating whereby he can get back into these 0-70 events. It goes without saying that Go Go Green's come-from-behind tactics can make him his own worst enemy and his strike-rate of 1 win and two further placings from 14 starts at the track is hardly bet compelling stuff. But with a number of today's rivals having shown a recent preference for frontrunning tactics, including likely favourite Jebediah Shine, there's got to be a realistic chance that his rivals will come back to him at the right point and that Jim Goldie's stable apprentice Rachael Grant steer him through the openings to score. (Will Hayler)

1pt Francesca Schiavone to beat Sara Errani at 2/1

Finally I can't resist taking a punt on Schiavone in this all-Italian clash. Errani has always struggled on the lawns of the All England Club with the low, skiddy bounces causing her plenty of problems. She's lost in round one in each of the last two years. Schiavone's record here is hardly sparkling either but she is a former quarter-finalist and produced some good tennis at the French Open recently to show she's in good touch. I simply don't think there should be so much between the pair in terms of price and I can easily see Errani getting frustrated and giving Schiavone at least a good chance which she is capable of taking. 2pts win Mays Teejay (T5) in Nottingham 7.52 at SP

Nottingham is the venue for nine open races this evening and we rate Mays Teejay (T5) the bet of the night at 7.52. The son of Last Bid runs this 305m trip better than most and is two wins from his last three starts following an explosive trap-to-line success in 17.96 last week. From a potentially tricky draw clad in orange, he's expected to show his class. (Matt Salter)

3pts Morgan Amalfitano to score in West Ham v FC Lusitanos at 5/4

West Ham are the first Barclays Premier League team to start their 2015/16 campaign tonight as they host Andorrans FC Lusitanos at Upton Park. You won’t be surprised to see the Hammers as the 1/100 favourites for victory and you can get a massive 50/1 for the outsiders to claim a very, very, very surprising first leg advantage. There will be a mix of youth and experience in the West Ham line-up as academy manager Terry Westley takes charge with new boss Slaven Bilic sitting in the stands. Morgan Amalfitano is one of the experienced players in the first XI and he looks a great bet at odds-against to find the back of the net. There’s 5/4 on offer for the Frenchman to strike and that’s worth taking with his fellow forward-thinking players as short as 1/5. (Nick Hext)

Odds for tonight's Europa League matches
Horse Racing
1pt win Supplicant in Epsom 7.25 at 11/2 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Supplicant is worth one more chance down in grade at Epsom. Trainer Richard Fahey still retains plenty of faith in the four-year-old, who won the Mill Reef at Newbury during a stellar juvenile campaign. Like a lot of twilight horses he struggled a little during his three-year-old campaign but there have been plenty of signs that the ability remains. The handicapper has to assess what he sees on the track and as a result Supplicant has finally been given some relief by the assessor. Afforded a mark of 110 in his pomp, he’s now down to 90. Jack Garritty takes a further 3lb off here and he’s in the least competitive race he’s contested since landing odds of 1/20 at Ripon in August 2013. A lot has to be taken on trust after two below-par efforts at York and Newmarket on his last two starts but Fahey recently told Sporting Life that he "still has the faith" and it’s interesting that the visor, first used on the Knavesmire, is retained here. The Cheveley Park-owned gelding is now 5lb lower than when a head second to Spinatrix in a Ripon handicap back in September. If there is going to a revival now is the time. (Dave Ord)

Tennis
2pts Under 33.5 games in Sam Querrey v Roger Federer at 5/6

Sam Querrey rewarded followers of my tips in Nottingham last week with a run to the final at 16/1 but the level is rising significantly here. His big serve produced plenty of aces in Nottingham but it was far from impregnable and I’m expecting Roger Federer to deal with it fairly comfortably. As we saw in last year’s semi-final when the Swiss took on Milos Raonic, he had the ability to pick a big serve well and take his chance when presented with it. Querrey is no Raonic, neither in terms of quality or serve speed, and his previous meetings with Federer help prove my point – none of their five sets has gone beyond 10 games with Federer winning the lot. As long as that sequence continues this bet lands and even one set goes to a tie-break there’s still plenty of slack with Federer to work with. Admittedly they haven’t met for some time, or on grass, but the higher-bouncing ball in the hot conditions will aid Federer I’d have thought and I expect his class to tell here. (Andy Schooler)

2pts win View The Moon (T3) in 8.02 Hove at SP

Live in front of the RPGTV cameras at Hove, punters are advised to look no further than View The Moon (T3) for what we rate as the banker of the evening at 8.02. Seamus Cahill's charge has impressed in a relatively short career on these shores thus far - highly unlucky to exit the William Hill Greyhound Derby in the first round despite finishing third and getting within a length and a half of Swift Hoffman in a red-hot heat. The son of Kinloch Brae has since racked up a double at Sittingbourne in trap-to-line fashion, and the course and distance winner is taken to complete the hat-trick on the south coast tonight. Horse Racing
2pts Shaakis at 13/8 to win the 7.30 at Newbury (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Marcus Tregoning hasn't had a winner at this, his local track, for a good couple of seasons now, but he does love winners here and he has just the right vehicle in this downgraded horse Shaakis, who has been far from disgraced despite finishing back in midfield in his last two starts. Squeezed out when beaten four lengths behind Lightning Spear (a leading fancy for the John Smith's Cup this weekend) at Salisbury last time, he was also been beaten only seven lengths behind Stravagante in a similarly red-hot handicap at Epsom on Derby Day previously. Against a rather exposed bunch of older rivals a repeat of either of those efforts, or indeed his two earlier runs this season, should be good enough to win this, and the application of cheekpieces for the first time is a nice bonus.Voyageofdiscovery, as the market suggests, could be the one to give him most to do but despite a fairly solid overall profile he only has the one win to his name so far and the handicapper is cutting him little slack in making him race off a 3lb higher mark than when last seen on turf, finishing down the field at Sandown last August. (Will Hayler)

Football
2pts Morgan Amalfitano to score in FC Lusitanos v West Ham at 6/4

Morgan Amalfitano again looks the value in the anytime goalscorer betting for West Ham’s trip to Andorra to tackle FC Lusitanos tonight. The French midfielder is one of the few experienced players in the Hammers’ starting XI and is a big 6/4 to net with most of his attacking team-mates available as odds-on shots. Amalfitano went close to striking in the first leg and looks a better shout to me than his fellow winger Matt Jarvis (15/8). The Hammers are 3-0 up from the first leg so will make it to the next round of the Europa League with ease when a tougher test awaits. (Nick Hext)

Tennis
Serena Williams to win 1st set v Maria Sharapova 6-3 or 6-4 at 13/8

Having won their last 16 meetings, a run stretching back a decade, Serena Williams is clearly a hot favourite to reach yet another Wimbledon final. Not only that but the matches have rarely been close, Sharapova winning just one set of the last 26 the pair have played. I wouldn't put the big-hitters among you off the 4/7 about another straight-sets Serena win here. However, the bigger price about her winning the opening set 6-3 or 6-4 (ie by an early/midway single break) looks very tempting. That's happened in five of the last eight matches these two have played and while Sharapova is up against it here, she's unlikely to go down without a fight and their recent contests have been fairly close. Serena hasn't been at her best so far in SW19 so I don't see her romping through the set. She can be a slow starter but usually gets stuck into the Russian's serve pretty quickly - she's broken Sharpaova at least three times in each of their last 11 matches. In short, the price looks a decent one and should be taken. (Andy Schooler)

Greyhounds
2pts win Loughteen Pedro (T2) in 8.50 Hove at SP

The Sussex Cup gets underway next Thursday and the last four trial stakes for the event take place at Hove tonight. Claude Gardiner won the Category One competition in 2009 with Raithby Syrah and the local handler could have another serious contender on his hands in the shape of Loughteen Pedro (T1), who is fancied to extend his winning sequence to five at 8.50. The August '12 son of Cashen Legend is in the form of his life, having won three from five over 475m here before going unbeaten in a two-round event over 575m at Romford. He has been handed a plum draw on the rails and looks sure to rail round in a prominent position, from which he can prove too strong even if Ballymach Loch and Swift Whirlwind get on the bunny. 2pts Secret Hint to win 4.10 at Ascot at 7/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Andrew Balding’s filly has been off the track since disappointing at Ripon in mid-May but that run may have come too soon after her fine reappearance at Wetherby while the track may not have suited either (a reason offered by the trainer’s representative on the day). Either way, she returns to action with her stable in fine form and in a contest which should suit and one that doesn’t look overly competitive for its type. She has the ability to rate higher than her current mark and can take another step up the ladder today. (Ian Ogg)

Wimbledon
Andy Murray to beat Roger Federer 3-2 at 5/1

Two players playing at a high level and with a history of tight, long matches make this a virtual pick 'em with the layers. Murray is actually the slight favourite at time of writing. That was my view when I backed him to win the title a couple of weeks' ago and it remains so, but only just. Federer has probably exceeded expectations more and he's looked highly impressive, particularly on serve which he's only lost once. His movement has been a major reason for his success thus far as even at nearly 34 he simply glides around the court, covering the ground better than some men almost half his age. However, Murray has the tools to thwart those weapons. His returns will test Federer like no other player so far while question marks continue to be asked about what will happen to the Swiss if he's embroiled in a lengthy contest. A tired man will struggle to move as well and it's a key part of the Federer game. With both players full of confidence, that's something I'm expecting and so backing Murray to claim victory in the decider looks a decent shout at a tempting 5/1 rather than simply backing a five-setter which is offered at 9/4. Federer will surely get his chances - Murray often has a blip as we saw against Andreas Seppi in the third round - but the younger man is given the edge if this turns into an epic which it has all the hallmarks of doing. (Andy Schooler)

PRICE BOOST available on today's Wimbledon action!
Cricket
2pts England lead after first innings at 4/5

This looks a nice price for England to take five wickets before Australia can score another 166 runs in Cardiff. It’s a price that appears to put much store in Brad Haddin’s previous exploits against England. Fair enough, he has a good record against the Three Lions, but his current form is poor. He has just one half-century in his last 20 Test innings, and has been dismissed for 10 or under in nine of those knocks. Shane Watson is 29 not out overnight and has history for getting in and getting out, while England also have a nightwatchman to go at and a new ball just 10 overs away. Watson, Haddin, Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc are all capable batsmen, but all are aggressive types. That’s a danger on one hand, but on a slow but slightly two-paced Cardiff pitch, batsmen’s aggression has often been the thing keeping the bowlers in the game during the first two days. Australia are still capable of getting away from England here, but 4/5 under-rates England’s chances based on what we’ve seen so far. (Dave Tickner)

PRICE BOOST available on the first Ashes Test
Rugby League
Huddersfield (+6) to beat St Helens at 10/11

Huddersfield won the sides’ previous game, a low-scoring one which ended 11-8. Saints have lost their last two which is a little bit concerning. In contrast, the Giants have now won three in a row. I’m a bit worried about Saints in this game. Jon Wilkin is out and with a new full-back, Adam Quinlan, their attack could be disrupted. Danny Brough’s kicking game will be productive for Huddersfield and given the sides’ form I feel Huddersfield can cover in this game. (Ian Millward)

Place your bets on tonight's Super League action
Golf
2pts David Toms to win his R2 threeball at 3/1

Former winner and local favourite Zach Johnson is odds-on to come out on top against David Toms and Stewart Cink at TPC Deere Run today but Toms could offer a bit of value as the trio bid to book their place for the weekend. Scoring will be low again and Johnson was the pick of the grouping on Thursday but Toms has shown in his last two events an ability to post a good number in round two with 66-67 at the FedEx St Jude Classic and Travelers Championship respectively. A similar sort of performance here could do the trick and he is worth backing against the odds-on quote given to Johnson - he is fancied to give him more of a test than Cink. (David John)

Greyhounds
2pts Rearguard Bond (T2) to win the 8.18 at Romford

Romford's Friday night competitions are proving popular and a 750m event gets under way at the London Road circuit tonight. Rearguard Bond (T2) led everywhere barring the line over this C&D two starts ago when picked up by Bubbly Time, with smart Dean Childs-trained duo Droopys Cottage and Droopys Tamera behind. His assignment at 8.18 looks an easier one and a repeat of anything like that 47.40 (calculated) should suffice on his return to this venue. (Chris Oliver)

1pt Imperial Legend to win 4.30 Musselburgh at 9/2 (best odds guaranteed)

In Imperial Legend David Nicholls has a frustrating six-year-old on a lengthy losing streak but crucially now a well-handicapped horse. Fully 7lbs lower than his last winning mark at Haydock (admittedly back in the summer of 2013) he has shown flashes of form this season notably at Pontefract last time. He went down all guns blazing to Soul Brother in a ding-dong finish, showing the fire still burns. Headgear was dispensed with that day and remains off today - and Paul Quinn retains the ride. With a stack of good course form to his name he ticks plenty of boxes and makes appeal around the 5/1 mark. This isn't a strong contest and while Ruby's Day rates a potential threat at big prices, I'm happy to side with Imperial Legend. If he's ever going to regain the winning threat today is the day. 2pts over 2.5 goals in Belgium v Israel at 8/11

Belgium could well enjoy themselves against an Israel side that must be deflated by their failure to beat Cyprus at the weekend. Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku and co are a daunting proposition for any side and Israel face a difficult task. Victory could see them snatch a play-off place if Bosnia and Herzegovina slip up at home against Cyprus but it will not be easy to break down a strong Belgium defence (just one conceded at home) and they could leave themselves vulnerable at the back if they over commit. As such, backing the game to produce over 2.5 goals appeals more than the odds against about a Belgium win to nil which is a perfectly conceivable result. (Ian Ogg)

1pt Lightfoot Mata (T3) to win 7.58 Sheffield at SP

Lightfoot Mata can make the most of a return to home sand by landing the 7.58 at Sheffield this evening. Elaine Parker's October '13 whelp shaped with plenty of promise at the South Yorkshire track before heading to Towcester for a puppy event, in which he ran a good race for second in the final. Following a satisfactory sprint trial at the weekend, he has a nice make-up in the white jacket between slow starters and is fancied to turn in front, a position from which he would be very tough to reel in. 2pts win Always Lion 5.05 Worcester at 5/4 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Always Lion showed a smart level of form in bumpers, winning on debut before placed efforts at Cheltenham and Ascot. In the latter contest, he was beaten five lengths attempting to concede 4lbs to Wait For Me who went on to finish third in the Cheltenham Festival bumper, a race in which Always Lion finished 17th. That was disappointing but is obviously one of the strongest races of its type during the season and it's usually a race that can be relied upon to throw up plenty of winners the following season. It's no surprise, therefore, that he's a warm favourite for his hurdling debut but he looks a decent bet at odds against. (By Ian Ogg)

1pt Memphis Depay to score any time in CSKA Moscow v Man United at 5/2

He came in for all kinds of criticism following his (admittedly wretched) first-half display against Arsenal; he was dragged off at the break and left on the bench against Everton. However, Van Gaal quite rightly has huge faith in the former PSV youngster and it'd be good to see him back in the starting XI before his confidence takes a real dip. Memphis has scored three in this competition already and highlighted his goalscoring prowess when opening his league account in the 3-0 victory over Sunderland at the end of last month. I remain completely convinced that he'll become a star at Old Trafford and at odds bordering 3/1 I'd like to keep him on side. Stakes, of course, will be returned should he not be picked. 2pts win Lenson Tiggy (T5) in 9.15 Peterborough at 8/11

The Alan Speechley Fengate Collar 2015 gets underway at Peterborough with three heats this evening and Lenson Tiggy (T5) can show his rivals a clean pair of heels in the second instalment at 9.15. The son of Lenson Bolt and Newtown Cora won a warm Birlem Oil Standard in front of the Sky Sports cameras at Sittingbourne earlier this month and he confirmed his current well-being when beating smart kennel companion Lenson Jed in a trial over tonight's course and distance last week.
